Kerala, Thrissur City: In a major breakthrough, Thrissur City Cyber Crime Police arrested two key members of a Cambodian-based cyber fraud gang at Bengaluru Airport. The accused, Anju Babu C (31) and Muhammed Hashik (28), both from Malappuram district, were apprehended while returning from Cambodia.
The arrests were made in connection with a case where a youth from Thrissur was defrauded of ₹1 lakh through a crypto trading scam initiated via a matrimonial introduction. The victim was promised marriage and lucrative crypto profits, but never received his money or any returns. Following a complaint, cyber police launched a detailed probe and issued a lookout notice for the suspects.
Thanks to swift coordination between Bengaluru Airport authorities and Thrissur Police, the suspects were detained and handed over to the investigation team led by Cyber Crime Inspector Sudheesh Kumar, with SI K Jayan, SI RN Faisal, ASI P Pratibha, and CPOs VB Anoop and TC Chandraprakash.
The arrests mark a significant win in the fight against international cyber fraud.
