Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: The Panakudi Police has registered a case against a group of individuals who staged an unlawful protest near the Panakudi Bus Stand on 26.11.2025 without obtaining necessary permission.
Earlier, a petition related to a business dispute over vehicle ownership following the death of a contractor was submitted to the Panakudi Police Station. After inquiry, it was confirmed that the issue was a private financial and contractual dispute between two parties, for which both sides were advised to seek legal remedy through the court. The petition investigation was completed as per due procedure.
Despite the denial of permission, around 25 individuals assembled and held a protest, causing inconvenience to the public. In response, the police registered a case for assembling illegally and disrupting public order, ensuring that law and order is upheld without compromise.
Subsequently, a request seeking permission to conduct a dharna was submitted. After review, the Valliyur Sub-Divisional Police Officer rejected the request and a process order was issued on 24.11.2025. While permission was denied in writing on 26.11.2025, maintaining that public gatherings should not disrupt peace or traffic movement.
The Tirunelveli District Police reaffirm that peaceful resolution of disputes must take place through legal means and warn that no unlawful gatherings or disruptions to public peace will be permitted under any circumstances.
