The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended the Divisional Engineer (In-charge AGM) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Orai, Uttar Pradesh, for soliciting and receiving a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant.
Based on a complaint, a case was filed against the Divisional Engineer (In-charge AGM) of BSNL in Orai, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant, who is a vendor for BSNL. It was claimed that the accused sought the bribe in exchange for awarding a contract for the installation and supply of an OLT Machine, providing fiber connection to the BDO Office in Dakor, Orai, and ensuring timely payments.
The CBI set up a sting operation and apprehended the accused while he was in the act of demanding and accepting the Rs20,000 bribe from the complainant. Subsequent searches at the accused’s residences in Orai and Kanpur resulted in the discovery of incriminating documents, including evidence of property investments.
The accused was presented before the appropriate court and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
