Hyderabad, Telangana: In a swift and intelligence-driven operation, the Special Crime Team (SCT) of the CCS Detective Department, Hyderabad, in coordination with Hussainialam Police, successfully apprehended an individual involved in illegal arms possession on December 31, 2025.
Acting on credible information, the police arrested Amjad Khan (29), a resident of Hussainialam, and recovered a 0.7 mm country-made pistol along with a mobile phone from his possession. The timely action prevented a potential threat to public safety.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly procured the weapon about ten months ago through intermediaries from Madhya Pradesh for ₹80,000. Police investigations further indicate that the weapon was intended to intimidate members of the general public. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend two other absconding accused involved in supplying the illegal firearm.
The successful operation was carried out by Sri D. Bikshapathi, Inspector of Police, Special Crime Team, under the supervision of Sri G. Venkateswar Reddy, ACP, SCT, CCS Hyderabad, with the active support of Hussainialam Police.
Hyderabad City Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and issued a public advisory urging individuals in illegal possession of arms to voluntarily surrender weapons at the nearest police station. Strict surveillance continues against anti-social elements to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
