Kanyakumari: A monthly crime consultation meeting was held on June 7, 2024, under the leadership of Mr. E. Sundaravathanam IPS, Superintendent of Police for Kanyakumari District, at the Kanyakumari District Armed Forces Complex. The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors of Police, Assistant Inspectors of Police, and Constables of Kanyakumari district. The meeting reviewed the investigation of all cases in the district, pending cases, stringent actions against individuals involved in smuggling and selling drugs such as ganja and tobacco, actions taken against those disturbing public peace and rioters, court proceedings, and various other events. A directive was issued to maintain vigilance on cases of murder, robbery, day and night criminals, hooligans, and organized criminals, ensuring appropriate action is taken. Strict action was advised against individuals consuming alcohol in public places, and an increase in cases against drunk driving was recommended.
The Superintendent of Police awarded certificates to commend officers and police personnel for their exemplary work in protecting the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India during his visit to Kanyakumari district. Certificates were also awarded to special constables who excelled in apprehending criminals in various cases, including ganja-related offenses, and to additional public prosecutors and government assistant prosecutors for their efforts in expediting criminal cases in court and securing convictions.
