Telangana, Rachakonda: On 30.12.2024, at 16:00 hours, Chaitanyapuri Police officers, including DI Sri S. Guruswami, DSI M. Vikram Reddy, and Constables G. Srisailam (PC-10018) and S. Anil (PC-10988), apprehended two automobile offenders involved in the theft of 30 motorcycles. The offenders, Mohd. Shaik and Mohd. Imran, were intercepted at Mohan Nagar X Road while attempting to dispose of a stolen motorcycle and planning another theft. Acting on suspicion during a vehicle check, the crime staff stopped the duo, which were traveling on a stolen bike from Kothapet to Nagole.
Upon interrogation, the offenders confessed to stealing 30 motorcycles across Rachakonda, Cyberabad, Hyderabad City, Vikarabad, Nizamabad, and Sanga Reddy limits. A total of 30 vehicles were recovered, including Royal Enfield (12), Honda Activa (10), Splendor (3), Honda Unicorn (2), Honda Shine (1), Bajaj Platina (1), and Burgman Scooty (1), valued at Rs.46,00,000. Efforts are underway to apprehend a third accused, Imran, who remains absconding.
Background of the Accused:
The accused, Mohd. Shaik, aged 21, an AC technician, and his associates, Mohd. Imran and Imran, both auto drivers, are residents of Golkonda, Hyderabad. The trio, addicted to alcohol and other vices, turned to theft for easy money. Shaik was previously arrested by Jeedimetla Police in Crime No. 154/2024 under Section 379 IPC in April 2023. Post his release in May 2023; he joined his accomplices to execute motorcycle thefts across various locations.
Modus Operandi:
The accused targeted unattended motorcycles parked outside residences or public spaces without proper security. After stealing the vehicles, they sold them at significantly lower prices to unsuspecting buyers.
Arrest Details:
The arrests were carried out under the supervision of Sri. G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and as directed by Sri. CH. Praveen Kumar, IPS, DCP, LB Nagar Zone, along with ADCP, ACP, and SHO of Chaitanyapuri PS.
The CP, Rachakonda, urged the public to remain vigilant, especially during late-night hours, and report any suspicious activity or individuals to the police immediately.
