Chandigarh: On Sunday, the Chandigarh Police apprehended four proclaimed offenders who were wanted in separate criminal cases. The arrests were made with the assistance of summons staff. Among the arrested individuals was Vineet, also known as Binny, from Sector 25. Vineet had been booked for assaulting two people and throwing bricks at a house in Ram Darbar.
The other three arrested offenders were Jatinder Kumar from Barmajra, Narinder Singh from Kharar, and Anil from Faidan. Jatinder Kumar had been booked on March 29, 2018, following a complaint filed by Devender Kumar. The complainant had reported that his shop had been broken into and robbed of Rs.88,000/- in cash and a laptop. Narinder Singh had been wanted in a case of theft registered at the Maloya police station on March 20, 2019. Anil had been on the run after being involved in a fatal accident where a woman lost her life. An FIR in this matter was lodged at the Industrial Area police station on March 19, 2017. The complainant, Meena of Hallomajra, had reported that her sister was crossing a road near Sai Baba temple, Sector 29, when Anil’s Toyota Innova hit her. She had later succumbed to her injuries.
It is noteworthy that the Chandigarh Police, under the supervision of SSP Kanwardeep Kaur, SP (City) Mridul, and DSP Davinder Sharma, have been actively pursuing proclaimed offenders. In April of this year alone, a total of 60 proclaimed offenders have been apprehended. This is a testament to the commitment and dedication of the Chandigarh Police to maintaining law and order in the city.
