Chandigarh: The Chandigarh police is committed to extend full cooperation and provide all sort of assistance especially to Senior Citizens and Women during lockdown restrictions in the City. It is worthwhile to mention that the Hon’ble Governor PB and Administrator UT had expressed the desire to W/DGP UT to proactively help senior citizens. On the directions of W/DGP, Mr.Sanjay Baniwal IPS under the guidance of SSP/UT, Mr.Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SP/City, Mr. Vineet Kumar got Senior Citizens contacted through Chandigarh Police Control Room to know about their well being and requirements.
In continuation of these efforts, on 13.04.2020 Total of 725 calls were made, out of which 230 Senior Citizens attended/received the calls, 13 Senior Citizens seek out police help. Chandigarh Police Control Room contacted Senior Citizens and pregnant women through phone calls and enquired them if they need any kind of help or medical assistance during the lockdown. The concerned SHO’s were also apprised to resolve their problems. The most problems of Senior Citizens were regarding the requirement of medicines, groceries/ration related. SHO’s of the concerned area that is PS-17, PS-Mauli Jagran & PS-Manimajra personally visited them and resolved their problems. If any senior citizen and women in the city having any problem or need police assistance he/she may call on No. 112.
