Chennai: A youth aged 22 was apprehended by the Chennai police on Saturday for kidnapping and sexually assaulting his 13-year-old sister-in-law under the Arni police station limits a few days ago.
According to the police, the youth who is from Gummidipoondi, got married to a relative from a village. He was staying in his father-in-law’s house. The police said he befriended his 13-year-old sister-in-law even before the wedding. A Senior Police Officer said from February 28, the accused and the 13-year-old girl went missing. The girl’s parents lodged a complaint in the Arni police station.
The police on Saturday captured both the boy and the girl and brought them back. The police officer said that he had taken the girl to Andhra Pradesh and sexually assaulted her. The youth has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. The police have booked him under the POCSO Act.
