Chhattisgarh: Mr. D .M. Awasthi IPS DGP Chhattisgarh said it was in the month of March when a 15-year-old girl from Durg District went missing. She happened to be the daughter of the maid at the paternal house of Ms.Ankita Sharma IPS, 2018 batch, who is a native of the District herself. The IPS officer who was then posted in Bhatapara Rural police Station for her probation came to know the event, she eagerly took the matter at hand, after taking the mobile location through the cyber cell, of the number the girl used to contact her parents, that showed Delhi, the IPS contacted her batchmate who was posted in Delhi named Mr. Lokeshwaran Ravi, IPS 2018 batch.
Both took the resolve to find and rescue the girl. They took the task of finding her in priority. The officers had the suspicion of the girl being trafficked and perhaps a racket working via Facebook to lure young girls. The matter was taken with utmost seriousness. On the day, when the nation on the call of the Prime Minister, came out to their balconies and terrace, to clap for the Corona Warriors, the girl where she was working as a house help in Delhi, came to her balcony as well, and she took a video of the same to post in her WhatsApp status.
The officers were continuously monitoring the girl’s activity, the Station House Officer of the area was contacted, who could find the exact location of the house, where the girl was kept. The police waited for the lockdown to relax, but in the meantime kept continuous surveillance. Unlock1 came as a perfect opportunity, Ms. Ankita Sharma IPS, then contacted one of her acquaintances in Delhi named Ramesh, who happened to be a Good Samaritan, he agreed to rescue the girl and assist the police in the proceedings.s the saying goes “And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” by Mr. Paulo Coehlo.
On the 31st of May, the girl was rescued, and today on the 7th of June, the girl returned to Raipur via Flight, back to be with her family. Through the excellent effort of the Chhattisgarh Police. The girl is now saved from the menace of trafficking. The DGP said, I appreciate the sheer dedication of the young officers, who reinstalled the faith of the public in the Police. Also, I appreciate Ramesh, the resident of Delhi, who assisted in getting the girl back home, and worked as Friends of Police.
