Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka: In a significant step towards curbing the menace of narcotics, the Chikkamagaluru District Police destroyed 38.652 kilograms of ganja on Thursday. The contraband had been seized in 24 cases registered under the NDPS Act between 2018 and 2025 across various police stations in the district.
The destruction was carried out at the Hassan Industrial Area in the presence of the Narcotics Disposal Committee, following due permission from the court and the Pollution Control Board.
This initiative reflects the police department’s strong commitment to eradicating drug abuse and ensuring that seized narcotics are completely removed from circulation, preventing any chance of misuse.
Authorities emphasized that strict enforcement and systematic disposal of seized contraband remain a top priority in safeguarding the youth and society from the harmful impact of drugs.
