Srikakulam: Today, representatives from the Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, under the leadership of Gondu Sitaram, paid a visit to Srikakulam District Superintendent of Police, Mr. KV Maheswara Reddy, IPS. As a mark of courtesy and respect, they presented him with a symbolic gift of a flower plant, signifying their mutual commitment to fostering a safer environment for children.
During the meeting, Gondu Sitaram stressed the critical importance of intensifying efforts to eliminate child labor within the district. He underscored the need for organizing comprehensive awareness programs across both urban and rural areas, aimed at educating communities about the harmful impact of child labor. He also called for the active participation and coordination of all relevant departments, including law enforcement, education, social welfare, and labor, to ensure the complete eradication of this issue.
Mr. KV Maheswara Reddy echoed these sentiments, affirming the police department’s dedication to working closely with child welfare organizations and other agencies to enforce laws protecting children and to promote their well-being.
Several prominent figures attended the event, adding weight to the discussion. Among them were District Child Welfare Officer PV Ramana, who highlighted the ongoing efforts being made by the department; U. Srilakshmi, Chairman of the Child Welfare Committee, who emphasized the need for a long-term, sustainable approach to child rights; and B. Shanti, Project Director of the Women and Child Welfare Department, who offered insights into various government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable children.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to intensify their collaborative efforts to combat child labor and create a safer, more nurturing environment for children across the district.
