Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu May 11: In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, the District Collector of Thanjavur has commended Special Sub-Inspector Mr. Manoharan of Thanjavur Medical College Police Station for his exceptional commitment to service and compassion toward the most neglected members of society.
SSI Manoharan has personally ensured the dignified burial of approximately 120 unidentified, unclaimed, and orphaned bodies, treating each with honor and respect, regardless of their status or background. These were individuals whose identities and families could not be traced, and who would have otherwise been laid to rest in anonymity.
Recognizing this extraordinary act of service, the District Collector praised Mr. Manoharan’s humane approach, dedication to duty, and silent contribution to preserving dignity even in death. The Collector noted that such compassionate work reflects the true spirit of public service and sets an inspiring example for others in the force and the broader community.
“This is not just police work — this is a reflection of humanity at its best,” the Collector said during the appreciation ceremony. “SSI Manoharan’s silent service ensures that no soul is forgotten. He embodies the values of empathy, responsibility, and respect.”
Colleagues and members of the police department also expressed admiration for Mr. Manoharan’s unwavering commitment to the humane side of policing, often working quietly behind the scenes to carry out these last rites with the utmost care and sincerity.
The Thanjavur District Police continues to uphold values of compassion and public service, with officers like SSI Manoharan proving that policing is as much about humanity as it is about law enforcement.
