Rachakonda: The SOT LB Nagar Zone team, in collaboration with LB Nagar police, apprehended a gang of three individuals attempting to deceive the public by distributing counterfeit entertainmentbanknotes. A case has been filed at LB Nagar Police Station within the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.
The identified suspects include Mohammad Bahauddin, also known as Jaweed, aged 53, residing in Telangana; Jampani Anderson, 37 years old, from Nizamabad district, with a history of criminal activity in Hyderabad City; and Maggidi Kishan, 27 years old, from Nirmal district.
Law enforcement confiscated three genuine Rs.500 notes, 60 lakhs in duplicate notes, an Ertiga car with registration number TS-01-EP-4946, a duplicate number plate with registration MH-12-R-6426, six mobile phones, a police fiber lathi, and a whistle from the possession of the accused.
Background on the accused reveals that Mohammad Bahauddin Jaweed, following his suspension from his previous job, turned to work as a real estate broker. He got involved in cheating schemes through contact with Salman from Nizamabad, who trained him and introduced him to Anderson. Anderson and Kishan, who previously worked as taxi drivers at RGIA Airport Taxi Stand, became friends.
Bahauddin motivated Anderson, promising a good share if he joined in cheating people. The gang would identify vulnerable targets, entice them with the promise of fake currency at a 1:3 ratio, and exchange genuine notes for fake ones, often posing as police officers to escape the scene.
On December 21, 2023, Bahauddin, Anderson, and Kishan came to Hyderabad, purchased entertainment banknotes at a shop in Begum Bazar, and attempted to deceive an innocent person with the promise of fake currency. Police intervened during a vehicle check near Sitara Grand Hotel, LB Nagar, seizing 60 lakhs in children’s banknotes (500 notes x 100 = 120 bundles) under the cover of a Panchama.
Bahauddin had previously committed similar offenses in Pandharkawda, Yavatmal (Maharashtra State), and Nirmal, Armoor, Nizamabad (Telangana State), with two instances in LB Nagar within Rachakonda Police Commissionerate limits.
Under the direction of Mr. G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and the guidance of Mr. K. Muralidhar, DCP, SOT, LB Nagar-Maheshwaram, Rachakonda, the SOT LB Nagar Zone Team and LB Nagar police personnel made the arrests. Police are actively investigating the criminal history of the accused and working to identify potential victims.
