Nagapattinam: In the recent crackdown on counterfeiting operations by the Nagapattinam District Special Force Police, three individuals engaged in smuggling activities were apprehended within the last 24 hours. A total of 860 bottles of Pandi liquor, along with 200 liters of the same, were confiscated from them. Additionally, two vehicles—a two-wheeler and a three-wheeler—were seized during the operation.
On September 18, 2023, as part of an ongoing initiative to combat the sale and smuggling of counterfeit liquor, Nagapattinam District Superintendent of Police, Mr. Harsh Singh, along with the Special Force Police team led by Assistant Inspector Mr. Balamurugan, conducted a raid at the RIVER VIEW temporary check post under Nagor police station’s jurisdiction. During the operation, 660 bottles of 90ml-sized Bondi liquor, deceptively transported under the pretense of modern fish trade, were intercepted. Additionally, one two-wheeler and one three-wheeler (auto) used in the smuggling operation were confiscated. The individuals involved were identified as follows: 1) Jayapandi (43) from Thenkarai, 2) Iyadurai (41) from Tamarai Kulam, Nagapattinam, and 3) Rajendran (45) from Kootai Mudaiwor Colony, Uppalayam, Nagapattinam. The accused were subsequently apprehended, and an investigation is underway.
Similarly, on October 17, 2023, in a coordinated effort led by Police Assistant Inspector Mr. Balamurugan, the Special Police Department carried out a raid in the Muttam area under Nagor Police Station’s jurisdiction. During this operation, 200 bottles of 180ml-sized liquor and 200 liters of Pandi liquor were seized, all of which had been illegally smuggled. Additionally, two two-wheeled vehicles utilized in the smuggling operation were impounded. A case has been registered, and the police are actively pursuing two individuals involved in the criminal activity.
