North and Middle Andaman: On 27.08.2024, Sh. Tarun Kumar Mondal, the Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate of North and Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder, delivered a judgment in the PS Kalighat case, vide FIR No. 21/2023 under Section 20(b)(ii) A of the NDPS Act, 2012, convicting the accused, Lila Debi. The court’s decision to sentence Lila Debi underscores the gravity of the offense and serves as a stern warning against such unlawful acts. It sends a strong message to society that those who commit crimes will be held accountable and face serious consequences for their actions.
Sub Inspector Abdul Sajid, the investigating officer in the case, worked diligently under the guidance of SI Silpi Singha, the then SHO of PS Kalighat, with overall supervision by Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS SP(D) N&MA. Their exceptional investigative skills and tireless efforts in gathering evidence demonstrated a high level of professionalism. Their dedication not only ensured the successful prosecution of this case but also highlighted the commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law and protect vulnerable individuals in the North and Middle Andaman District.
