CHENNAI: A public interest litigation petition filed against the DGP and Home Secretary on directing them to refrain from taking Jallikattu protestors into illegal custody was dismissed by The Madras High Court Bench here today. The plea was dismissed by a Division Bench of Justices A. Selvam and P. Kalaiyarasan on the ground that it was not legally maintainable. The court said that the petitioner had filed the case with false allegations and that the Police did not take anyone into illegal custody. “This is a publicity interest litigation and not a bonafide public interest litigation, the bench said. ]]>
