Hyderabad, Telangana: In a grand recognition of dedication and exemplary service, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, honoured 1,446 police personnel for their outstanding performance and commitment to duty. For the first time in the history of the City Police, the newly instituted ‘Extra Mile’ Awards and ‘Good Work Done’ Rewards were presented to deserving officers and staff.

The award ceremony was held at the Telangana State Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC), Banjara Hills, in the presence of senior police officials. The initiative marks a significant step towards encouraging excellence, accountability and people-friendly policing within the force.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, congratulated the awardees and emphasized that policing is not just a profession but a social responsibility. He urged police personnel to go beyond routine duties and serve the public with compassion, innovation and integrity.

“The real success of policing lies not only in completing tasks, but in the confidence and reassurance given to victims. When officers go the extra mile, public trust in the police grows stronger,” he said.

Explaining the vision behind the ‘Extra Mile’ Awards, the Commissioner stated that the initiative is aimed at identifying and recognizing personnel who display exceptional dedication and perform beyond their assigned responsibilities. He noted that such recognition would motivate the force and inspire others to work with greater commitment and professionalism.

Highlighting the importance of human values in policing, Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, observed that while technology plays an important role in modern policing, qualities such as integrity, sincerity and compassion at the grassroots level remain irreplaceable. He appreciated the collective efforts of all ranks—from Home Guards to senior officers—in maintaining peace and law and order in the city.

The Commissioner also announced that this recognition programme would be continued on a regular basis, with monthly awards at the zonal level for SHOs, SIs and Constables who demonstrate notable performance.

Award Details:

* Extra Mile Awards: 271 personnel

* Good Work Done Rewards: 1,175 personnel

The awardees included officers and staff from all ranks, including Additional DCPs, ACPs, Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables, Constables, Home Guards, ministerial staff and Public Prosecutors.

The ceremony was attended by Additional CP M. Srinivasulu, IPS; Joint CP Smt. Swetha, IPS; DCPs Chaitanya Kumar, IPS, Shilpavalli, IPS, Arvind Babu, Lavanya Naik, Venkata Lakshmi, and other senior officers.

The initiative has been widely appreciated as a strong morale booster for the police force and a positive step towards strengthening public trust through dedicated and people-centric policing.
