Dibrugarh, Assam, July 9: In a determined effort to reduce noise pollution and enhance public safety, the Dibrugarh Traffic Police have launched a special enforcement drive targeting motorcycles equipped with illegal modified silencers.
Traffic personnel conducted inspections across key locations in the city, identifying several bikes fitted with excessively loud silencers. These non-compliant components were removed and confiscated on the spot. Violators faced penalties, including fines and, in some cases, suspension of driving licenses.
In a commendable initiative beyond enforcement, the police also organized counseling sessions for the riders and their guardians at the local police station. Officials educated them about the adverse effects of noise pollution on public health and urged strict adherence to traffic norms.
“We are committed to ensuring a peaceful environment for all. Modified silencers not only violate traffic laws but also disturb public peace,” said a traffic police official. “This drive will continue, and we request the cooperation of all citizens.”
The Dibrugarh Police’s drive has received appreciation from residents and stands as a strong step toward responsible riding and community well-being.
