Thrissur: On the night of September 24, 2018, a tragic incident unfolded on Arimbur Kayal Road Four Cents within Anthikad Police Station jurisdiction, resulting in the loss of Kalesh, son of Kutan and resident of Kariyatil Veedu, Arimbur Kayal Road Desam, Parakkad Village. The incident was officially documented in the register dated September 25, 2018, at Anthikkad Police Station, where it was reported that Ratheesh, also known as Kuttan and son of Kochumon from Muttissery Veedu, Arimbur, Parakkad Village, was identified as the accused.
The Honorable Thrissur I Additional District Sessions Court Judge, K. E. SALIH, delivered a verdict sentencing Ratheesh to life imprisonment, along with 4 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.3.5 lakh. The court found Ratheesh guilty of assaulting his wife on the night of September 24, 2018, around 23:15 hours, under the suspicion of infidelity. Following this, Ratheesh caused disturbances in neighboring houses and specifically targeted the residence of Kalesh, a friend, where the tragic incident occurred.
The case was registered by ISHO P. K Manoj Kumar, who subsequently arrested the accused and led the investigation. The charge sheet was filed with the assistance of ASI Bhuvanesan, and approximately 15 witnesses were examined by the prosecution. The prosecution successfully established that the accused committed the crime out of enmity.
During the court proceedings, Public Prosecutor Adv. K. B Sunilkumar and LiJi Madhu represented the prosecution, urging the court to impose the death penalty for the brutality that deeply shocked the community’s conscience.
