Kottagudem: Maoists and security forces exchange fire in Chhattisgarh. A CRPF officer was killed and another jawan was injured in the firing by the Maoists.
Security forces of the 168th Battalion of the CRPF carried out a search operation in the Putkel forest area near Thimmappur under the Basaguda police station in Bijapur district. The Maoists rushed to the security forces in this order. The Maoists opened fire on the air force. In return, the jawans started firing.
CRPF Assistant Commandant Mr. SB Tirkey was seriously injured in the Maoist firing during the sequence but died on the way to the hospital. Police said he was from Jharkhand. He said the Maoists had escaped from there into the dense forest area while firing. Bijapur SP Mr. Kamalochan Kashyap IPS said the wind was blowing for them.
