<![CDATA[AHMEDABAD: Sardar Nagar police have booked unknown chain snatchers for culpable homicide. A 55-year-old woman, who was riding pillion on a scooter and fell during a chain snatching attempt near Kotarpur Water Works in Sardarnagar last Saturday, has died. This is the first time chain snatchers have been booked under section 304 for culpable homicide. According to police officials, Rajendrasinh Rathod, 55, and his wife Minakshi, 55, residents of Akshardham Tenaments in Sardarnagar, had gone to a religious function at Balajai Farm on SG Road last Saturday. "Rathod's friend had organized a sangh to Ambaji. He had invited Rathod and his wife," said a police official. While returning from the programme in the evening, when Rathod and Minakshi were near Kotarpur Water Works, two motorcycle-borne robbers tried to snatch Minakshi's gold necklace. "As Minakshi raised the alarm, the would-be snatchers pushed Rathod's scooter. Rathod and his wife fell with the vehicle. Meenakshi suffered head injuries that caused a haemorrhage and died," said a police official. Police official said they are going through CCTV footage from cameras near the crime scene to identify the perpetrators.]]>
