Port Blair: On July 19th, 2024, the Cyber Crime Police Station and Anti-Narcotics Police Station of Port Blair joined forces to conduct comprehensive cyber awareness and drug abuse sessions for more than 60 students at Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Rangachang. This initiative was part of the broader Cyber Awareness and Anti-Drug Abuse Initiative aimed at fostering a safe and secure environment for the youth.
During the session, officers addressed the latest trends in cybercrime, explaining various methods employed by cybercriminals and sharing anecdotal stories to highlight real-life scenarios. They provided detailed prevention strategies, emphasizing the importance of safe online practices such as creating strong passwords, recognizing phishing attempts, and protecting personal data. The students were educated on how to detect phishing schemes and safeguard their information against cyber threats.
In addition to cyber awareness, the session also focused on the dangers of drug use. Officers discussed the various disadvantages and severe consequences associated with drug abuse, including its impact on health, social life, and future prospects. They highlighted the legal ramifications of drug use and possession, aiming to deter students from falling prey to substance abuse.
