West Bengal, North 24 Parganas: The Cyber Crime Wing of the West Bengal Police, in collaboration with Echo Park Police Station and Bidhannagar Cyber Police Station in North 24 Parganas District, has dismantled an international fraud operation run through two illegal call centers in Newtown. These call centers were involved in defrauding U.S. citizens by falsely offering ‘technical support’ under the guise of Microsoft and other well-known companies.
To date, 15 individuals, including three women, have been arrested in connection with the case. Authorities have seized a total of 62 laptops, 41 mobile phones, and various other equipment.
The investigation is ongoing to trace the movement of the defrauded funds, including possible links to money laundering, crypto currency transactions, and hawala networks. A case has been registered at Echo Park Police Station. Stay vigilant against cybercrimes and ensure your safety.
