Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: As per the directions of City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Manivannan, the Tirunelveli City Police conducted a cybercrime awareness programme under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) V. Vinoth Shantharam.
The awareness session was organized on 18.02.2026 at Thuya Yovan College, Palayamkottai, by the City Cybercrime Wing under the leadership of District Cybercrime Additional Superintendent of Police Murugan. The programme was conducted by City Cybercrime Inspector Anitha, Assistant Inspector Ms. Swathika (Technology Wing), Assistant Inspector Muthukumar, and other cybercrime personnel.
During the session, students were educated on safe handling of social media platforms, precautions while using ATM cards and OTPs, and the risks associated with unknown contacts on social media. Officers also highlighted common online frauds, including employment scams carried out through digital platforms.
Participants were informed about the Cybercrime Toll-Free Helpline 1930 and the official portal https://cybercrime.gov.in/ for immediate reporting of online financial frauds.
The initiative reflects Tirunelveli City Police’s continued commitment to enhancing digital literacy and safeguarding citizens against cyber threats through proactive awareness campaigns.
