Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, December 29: As part of the ongoing Abhyudam Cycle Yatra from Payakaraopet to Ichchapuram, the Kasibugga Rural Police conducted a wide-ranging public awareness programme on drug prevention in Haripuram village of Mandasa Mandal on Monday.
The programme was organized under the supervision of Mandasa Police Station SI Sri Krishna Prasad, with Kasibugga DSP Sri Sheikh Shahbaz Ahmed attending as the Chief Guest. Addressing students and youth, the DSP highlighted the serious ill effects of drug abuse, stating that addiction can destroy the future of individuals, devastate families, and harm society at large.
Palasa MLA Sri Gautu Sivaji also participated in the programme and felicitated the members of the Abhyudam Cycle Yatra, appreciating the police initiative to spread awareness across the district. He emphasized that building a drug-free society is possible only through active public participation and collective responsibility.
As part of the awareness drive, participants took a pledge to stay away from drugs and assured full cooperation with the police by promptly informing authorities about any instances of drug use, smuggling, or transportation. A large number of students, youth, and local residents participated enthusiastically.
A rally was organized through the village with slogans such as “No Drugs – We Want a Healthy Society”, with participants holding placards to spread awareness among the public.
Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam Range DIG reiterated that the fight against drugs is not solely the responsibility of the police but a shared social responsibility of every citizen. He urged people to report suspicious activities related to drugs without hesitation through toll-free numbers 1972, 100, or 112, assuring that the identity of informers would be kept strictly confidential. The DIG called upon the youth to channel their energy towards nation-building, stating that youth power should drive development and not fall prey to addictions.
The Abhyudam Cycle Yatra continues to play a key role in guiding youth, strengthening police-public partnership, and steering society towards a marijuana-free future.
