Hyderabad, Telangana: Smt. T. Usha Rani, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Women Safety, of the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate, has reiterated the department’s firm commitment to ensuring safety and security for women and girls, stating that police will not spare anyone who harasses them.
She urged women to come forward and lodge complaints without fear, assuring strict legal action against offenders. The SHE Teams are actively conducting decoy operations in plain clothes at bus stands, railway stations, metro stations, schools, colleges, vegetable markets, and other public places. Offenders involved in stalking or harassment are apprehended with proper evidence, produced before the courts, and provided counseling in the presence of their family members.
Enforcement & Counseling Drive
Under the supervision of the DCP, counseling sessions for eve-teasers were conducted at the CP Camp Office, LB Nagar. Between February 1 and 15, 2026, SHE Teams apprehended 130 offenders (102 adults and 28 juveniles) involved in harassment cases. Professional counselors, along with family members, participated in the corrective counseling process.
During the same period, a total of 148 complaints were received, categorized as follows:
* Harassment through phone calls – 41
* Harassment through social media – 33
* Direct/physical harassment – 74
Action Taken:
* Criminal cases registered – 6
* Petty cases booked – 30
* Counseling provided – 99 persons
Key Cases Handled Swiftly
Swift Action in Obscene Act Case:
Based on a complaint, SHE Teams conducted a decoy operation near a Government Degree Women’s College and apprehended an auto driver who was caught red-handed committing an obscene act in public view. A case was registered under relevant legal provisions.
Relative Arrested for Stalking:
In another case, a distant relative began harassing a woman after she declined marriage. He repeatedly made late-night calls, defamed her publicly, and caused mental distress. Upon receiving the complaint, police registered a case, arrested the accused, and remanded him to judicial custody.
Accused Booked for Threats and Online Harassment:
A man who allegedly threatened to upload private photographs after a relationship ended was arrested following a complaint. The accused had continued harassment through multiple phone numbers and fake social media accounts. Police registered a case and remanded him to judicial custody.
Bus Stop Molestation Case Solved:
In a prompt response to a molestation complaint at a bus stop, SHE Teams verified CCTV footage, identified the accused, and swiftly apprehended him.
Awareness & Preventive Measures
From February 1 to 15, 2026, Malkajgiri SHE Teams conducted 58 awareness programs, reaching approximately 9,205 people. These sessions focused on women-related laws, rights, safety measures, and cyber awareness.
During metro rail decoy operations, four men found traveling in women-only compartments were penalized through metro authorities.

Reaffirming the department’s stand, DCP T. Usha Rani emphasized that ensuring the dignity and safety of women remains a top priority, and strict action will continue against offenders under a zero-tolerance policy.
