<![CDATA[A child was rescued after one of the abductors was gunned down and another sustained gunshot injury in an encounter with the crime branch of the Delhi police in Shalimar Garden area of Ghaziabad in the early hours of Tuesday. When the police raided a fifth floor apartment, the two abductors opened fire at the police. In the return fire, Ravi, 25, a resident of Gokulpuri in Delhi, was killed and Pankaj alias Singh Sahab, also from Gokulpuri, was injured in the right thigh. Mr.Ram Gopal Nayak, DCP (crime) told that during the encounter, the kidnappers threatened to harm the child. They fired five shots on the police team, and in retaliation, the police fired three shots on them . The operation was named “C.RIVER” because the kidnappers demanded Rs. 60 lakh ransom from the family and the ‘deal’ has to be finalised at Cross River mall in East Delhi, Mr. Nayak told. Late on Sunday night, police detained one Nitin from Seemapuri area when he came to his house. Mr. Nayak told that during interrogation, he confessed to the kidnapping of the five-year-old child from Shadhara on December 25 and guided the police to the apartment.The police immediately went there and the child was rescued safely after the encounter.
