New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested two members of a gang who befriended their targets through video calls, befriending them on social media and blackmailing them with recordings of their private webcam chats. On Wednesday. The accused were identified as Samayadeen (28) and Munfed (26) from Rajasthan.
In July last year, the Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested four members of the online sex torture gang. The accused revealed that the main leaders of the gang were Samayadeen and Munfed. The gang cheated more than 200 victims and collected money, a senior police official said.
A team led by IGIS and Crime Branch Inspector Mr. Anil Sharma on Tuesday nabbed and arrested the two accused, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mr. Dheeraj Kumar said.
The accused made fake IDs with the profile names and photos of attractive women on various social media platforms and sent friend requests to the victims. Police said the two started sharing their WhatsApp numbers and having sex after they became friends.
After trapping them through sexting, the accused made video calls to the targets and showed a girl undressing. They said they lure targets to stay naked during webcam chat sessions.
When they remove their clothes, the accused secretly record them using a screen-recording application. During the episode, the victim made no voice calls and believed she was interacting with a girl. Police said the suspects then forced them to blackmail to pay the money.
