NEW DELHI: Delhi’s Police Commissioner Mr. Amulya Patnaik has appointed women public facilitation officers to be the first point of contact for people coming in to police stations with complaints. Mr. Amulya Patnaik has instructed that smart young woman to hear the complaints and direct the complainant to register a complaint. 60 women sub-inspectors have been appointed inspectors in 20 police stations in the first lot. Training will be given in communication skills. They will wear civilian clothes and also trained to handle complaints sensitively, the Police Commissioner said. The Police Commissioner launched the initiative at Connaught Place on Friday. Mr. Amulya Patnaik said initiative was a step for a smooth grievance redress mechanism at police stations. Women Police would handle grievance redress mechanism smoothly at police stations, said Mr. Patnaik. He added, “The aim is to make police’s interaction with the public more empathetic, responsive and effective’’. Three public facilitation officers will work at the facilitation desk round-the-clock in three shifts. Chanakyapuri, Connaught Place and Tilak Marg have been chosen in the first lot, the district of New Delhi. Defence Colony and Vasant Vihar in south district, New Friends Colony, C R Park, Greater Kailash and Nizamuddin are selected in southeast Delhi in the first lot, said Police.]]>
