New Delhi: Alert Delhi Police have cracked the attacked on Journalst in Delhi just a few days ago by arresting a 22-year-oldman for attacking woman journalist Aparna Kalra (45). Aparna kalra was attacked by accused Sanjay on the evening of April 5 at a park in Ashok Vihar in northwest Delhi. Delhi Police told Policenewsplus, Sanjay (22) was infatuated with Aparna Kalra. He was a school dropout who used to work in a nail polish factory. He had five siblings and his father owned a ‘chaat’ cart. Sanjay was arrested on Saturday from the Sawan Park slums. Mr. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, had tweeted, “Was deeply concerned about the assault case on our media friend Ms Kalra and congratulated North West District team for quickly solving this blind case”. Mr. Milind Mahadeo Dumbere, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North West said, the accused was identified after questioning several people. Even the regular visitors to the park were questioned, the DCP said. Police rounded up the rogue elements, drug addicts and those who had previous criminal records in the area. Police said, a few of those detained told police that there was the presence of accused at the park at the time of the incident. “One of the detained person revealed that he had seen Kalra at the park around 8-10 times and was infatuated with her and he had accosted Kalra to talk to him, with a view to befriend her, but in vain. Sanjay in a fit of a rage, attacked her with a stone”, a Police officer said. The accused had consumed liquor before coming to the park with an intention to sexually assault her, it is alleged. When Kalra ignored him, Sanjay attacked her with a stone, a source said. When Kalra raised an alarm, the accused fled. Meanwhile Sanjay was not aware of the fate of the journalist, Police said.
