New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner Mr. Rakesh Asthana IPS has approved in principle the availability of all licenses and registration certificates issued by the licensing unit in digital format at Digital Locker.
Coincidentally, after the introduction of arms licenses in the form of smart cards, Delhi will be the first state to be linked with Digital Locker, a police official said.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Licensing) Mr. OP Mishra said that Digital Locker is a major initiative of Central Electronics and Information Technology to provide the repository for accessing authentic documents and certificates in digital format from their sources or issuing agency.
“As the licensing unit issues many licenses digitally and maintains a digital database of licenses, the integration with Digital Locker adds value to service delivery. CP has already given its approval to this and now citizens can keep their licenses digitally in Digital Locker and use them to verify the physical copy they have when required by law enforcement agencies for verification. Law enforcement agencies also have a valid source to certify such licenses,” said Mr. OP Mishra, Joint Commissioner of Police (Licensing).
