Anantapur: In the Anantapur district, under the leadership of the Special Enforcement Bureau, there were widespread attacks on sand smuggling and illicit liquor in the month of January. In addition to these, Special Enforcement Bureau teams and police forces jointly carried out raids on sand smuggling. Under the direction of District SP, Dr. Fakkirappa Kaginelli IPS, police teams under the supervision of Special Enforcement Bureau Special Officer Mr. J Ramamohanarao last month carried out continuous surveillance of liquor manufacturers, sellers and liquor smugglers. Police raided the district and seized 19,445 Tetra pockets and 565 bottles of liquor. 471 cases were registered against those smuggling liquor from Karnataka to the district and 336 accused were arrested. Attacks were carried out on breweries and sales across the district and 70,745 liters of the brewery were destroyed. Sarah seized 1,980 liters.
Sand smuggling was also constantly monitored. 49 cases of sand smuggling were registered and 73 people were arrested. A total of 58 vehicles moving sand were seized and 330.5 tonnes of sand was seized.
