Karnataka, Chikkamagaluru: Dr. Vikrama Amate, IPS, Superintendent of Police for Chikkamagaluru District, undertook a detailed review today by trekking to Deviramma Hill, accompanied by officials from various government departments and members of the temple management committee. This visit was conducted in anticipation of the upcoming Shree Deviramman Dipotsava festival, which is scheduled to take place in Bindiga village from October 31 to November 3, 2024.
The primary focus of the visit was to ensure the seamless organization of the event, which draws large numbers of devotees. Dr. Amate carefully assessed the deployment of police personnel at critical points along the route to the hilltop temple, ensuring that there is adequate coverage to manage security and maintain order throughout the festivities. The Superintendent also reviewed the path that devotees will take to ascend the hill, checking for potential bottlenecks or hazards that might cause inconvenience or safety issues for pilgrims during their climb.
In addition to security and access planning, parking arrangements for vehicles were scrutinized to avoid traffic congestion in the surrounding areas, and strategies for managing large crowds were discussed in detail to prevent overcrowding at key points. Crowd control barriers, queuing systems, and other measures were evaluated to ensure smooth movement during the festival.
Given the large number of attendees expected, the availability of medical aid was another critical aspect of the inspection. Dr. Amate reviewed the deployment of ambulances and medical teams at strategic locations to respond swiftly in case of emergencies. Safety protocols, such as fire safety measures, communication systems, and emergency response plans, were also examined to guarantee the overall well-being of the participants.
The Superintendent’s comprehensive review focused on a range of logistical and safety measures to ensure that the Shree Deviramman Dipotsava runs smoothly and safely for all devotees attending the event.
