<![CDATA[THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A one-day conference of Director Generals of Police forces of southern states will be held in the capital on Wednesday. The meeting is being conducted as a prelude to the meeting of Police Chiefs to be convened by the ministry of home affairs in October. The conference hosted by police headquarters here will discuss the issues that need joint action and mutual support, like threats to internal security, terrorist activities, left wing extremism, coastal security, railway and traffic safety and drug trafficking and transport. Other issues common to southern states and action plan to tackle these will also be discussed in detail at the conference. Besides State Police Chief Mr. Loknath Behera, DGPs of Karnataka, Andra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Lakshadweep and their top staff officers will attend the meeting. 11 top police officers have confirmed their participation in the meeting.The ministry of home affairs has divided the states into various clusters. The topics relevant to the states have been formulated and have been directed to discuss the same in the cluster meetings. The issues discussed in the meeting and the solutions evolved will be presented at the national level meeting.]]>
