Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, October 23, 2025: Visakhapatnam Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sri Gopinath Jatti, IPS, conducted a comprehensive annual inspection of police establishments under the Srikakulam Sub-Division on Thursday. The inspection covered the Srikakulam Sub-Divisional Police Office, Two Town Police Station, Traffic Police Station, and Laveru Police Station.

He was warmly received by District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sri K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, and other senior officers. Police personnel felicitated the Range DIG on his visit.

Focus on Speedy Investigation and Victim Justice

During the inspection, DIG Gopinath Jatti directed all officers to ensure speedy investigation and disposal of pending cases, particularly property-related crimes and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) cases. He emphasized the importance of meticulous evidence collection, timely filing of charge sheets, and strict legal action against offenders to deliver swift justice to victims.

He also reviewed case records, charge sheets, crime CDs, and station registers, instructing officers to complete the investigation of serious and sensitive cases within stipulated timelines.

Zero Tolerance for Narcotics – “Stamp Out Marijuana Completely”

The DIG expressed serious concern over marijuana trafficking and directed officers to identify the major sources and networks involved in its supply within the district. He instructed station heads and DSPs to intensify operations, enhance drone-based surveillance, and strengthen check posts to curb smuggling.

“Strict action will be taken not only against peddlers and smugglers but also against those who use marijuana. We will maintain constant surveillance and ensure a drug-free environment,” the DIG warned.

Women and Child Safety – A Priority for Police

Highlighting the importance of women and child safety, DIG Gopinath Jatti called for special monitoring of POCSO cases and directed police stations to conduct regular awareness programs in schools and colleges.

He advised officers to coordinate with the Education and Women & Child Welfare Departments to educate children about ‘Good Touch and Bad Touch’, child marriage laws, and cyber safety.

“It is disheartening that in many POCSO cases, relatives are found to be the offenders. Hence, awareness and early education are crucial to protect children,” the DIG said.

He also emphasized that the safety of minor girls must be given top priority and directed officers to stay in close contact with schools and parents to prevent crimes against children.

Cybercrime Awareness and Public Vigilance

The DIG urged citizens to be vigilant about cybercrime threats, warning that cybercriminals are deceiving innocent people through fake social media profiles and investment scams.

“People should be cautious and verify information before making financial commitments online. Those spreading fake news or propaganda through social media will face strict legal action,” he cautioned.

Traffic Regulation and Public Safety

Emphasizing the need for road safety and discipline, DIG Gopinath Jatti directed officers to enforce rules against drunk driving, over speeding and minor driving. He also instructed them to conduct awareness programs on traffic regulations and accident prevention in coordination with schools, colleges, and the transport department.

Police Commitment and Public Trust

Addressing police personnel, the DIG reminded them that public trust is the true strength of the police.

“The goal of the police department is to provide efficient service, resolve every complaint with fairness, and maintain a strong bond with the people. Every officer should perform their duty with commitment and integrity,” he said.

Green Initiative and Women Empowerment

As part of the visit, DIG Gopinath Jatti and SP K.V. Maheshwara Reddy planted saplings in the premises of the Laveru Police Station. They also inaugurated wall magazines and awareness pamphlets highlighting initiatives such as Nari Shakti, Cyber Crime Precautions, and Women Safety.

Senior Officers Present

District SP K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, Srikakulam DSP Vivekananda, and officers from various wings of the Srikakulam Police participated in the inspection and review meetings held under the leadership of DIG Gopinath Jatti, IPS.
