Chhattisgarh, Jashpur: In Jashpur District, as part of an intensified vehicle inspection campaign, two individuals were detained by the Tapkara police after being found transporting a substantial amount of cash without the necessary documentation. The incident unfolded when officers, conducting routine checks, flagged down a suspicious vehicle approaching from Odisha. Upon inspection, law enforcement authorities uncovered cash totaling Rs. 9 lakh, predominantly in smaller denominations of 10- and 20-rupee notes, concealed within the vehicle.
When questioned, the individuals failed to produce valid documentation or an adequate explanation for carrying such a large sum. Due to the lack of paperwork substantiating the origin or intended use of the funds, the police seized the entire amount. Subsequently, both individuals were taken into custody for further investigation, with authorities examining potential violations related to unauthorized cash transportation and to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
