Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: Acting on the orders of Dindigul District Superintendent of Police Dr. Pradeep and under the supervision of Ottanchatram Sub-Divisional Deputy Superintendent of Police Karthikeyan, the police have intensified operations to curb the sale and distribution of cannabis in the district.
Based on credible information received by Inspector Arumuga Nayinar of Reddiyarchatram Police Station, a special police team including Sub-Inspector Rajendran, Special Sub-Inspector Muthusamy Constable Deepa conducted surveillance in the Veyiladichampatti area under Reddiyarchatram Police limits. During the operation, the team intercepted and arrested Pandiyammal (54/26), wife of Subbaiah, a resident of South Street, Muthanampatti Pudur, Dindigul, who was found in possession of a bag containing cannabis intended for sale.
Police seized 3.650 kilograms of cannabis from the accused, registered a case, and initiated further investigation.
The Police Inspector stated that stringent action will continue against persons engaged in the sale of banned tobacco and narcotic products, including gutka and cannabis, as prohibited by the Government of Tamil Nadu. He further appealed to the public to provide information regarding illegal sale of narcotic substances and expressed the commitment of the district police to make Dindigul a cannabis-free district.
