<![CDATA[The series of efforts of the district police in ensuring law and order and more robust interstate border security resulted in the inauguration of the new police station at Thadagam. The aim is to more effectively prevent crime. District Superintendent of Police Pa. Moorthy said that as a sizeable portion of the jurisdiction of the Thudiyalur police falls under the Coimbatore Corporation limits, manpower was being stretched to the limit to maintain a vigil around the entire jurisdiction, stating that the Thadagam police will now ensure better security along the border with Kerala, and also focus on preventing crime. The new police station will ensure more vigilance for over 34 small villages in the area. Mr.Moorthy said that there are plenty of brick kilns in the area as well, and there has been a huge influx of migrant laborers, who need to monitored. He added saying that the Thadagam police, which will be manned by 30 police personnel, will also be tasked with looking into complaints of bonded labor, which have also sporadically come up in the past. With the inauguration of the Thadagam police station, there are now 35 police stations which fall under the ambit of the district police in five sub-divisions. The SP said that with the bifurcation of Thadagam from Thudiyalur, and the setting up of Sultanpet police station in January, which reduced the jurisdiction limits of the Sulur police, Mettupalayam remains the only large jurisdiction which could be further bifurcated in the future. Mr Moorthy said that proposals have been sent to set up two police stations in Sulur and Vadavalli, due to the need to prevent accidents and other issues along the stretch, stating that there was also a proposal for the setting up of an All Woman Police Station in Sulur. He added saying that there is a look out to get inspectors posted to the traffic police stations in Thudiyalur and Mettupalayam to ensure better policing.]]>
