Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, December 29, 2025: Continuing their firm and sustained campaign against drug trafficking, **Doda Police achieved another success by arresting a drug peddler and recovering about 100–110 grams of charas-like substance** during routine naka checking.
On December 29, a police team from Police Station Doda, led by SI Mushtaq Ahmed, was conducting naka duty at Gunpat Bridge, Pul Doda. During the operation, a motorcycle coming from Thathri towards Doda town was intercepted. The rider attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the alert police personnel. Upon search, a black polythene bag containing charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Shoket Ali, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Amrit Garh, Chiralla, District Doda. Accordingly, FIR No. 280/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, DySP Headquarters Doda Shri Krishan Raj, and SHO PS Doda Shri Parvaiz Khanday.
Sharing year-wise enforcement details, SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, stated that during 2025, Doda Police have registered 24 NDPS cases against 40 individuals, recovering significant quantities of narcotics including charas, chitta, ganja-like substances, and capsules, with an estimated international market value of ₹14.50 lakh. In a major deterrent action, a double-storey house worth ₹45.32 lakh belonging to a drug peddler has also been attached under relevant legal provisions.
The District Police Doda reiterated their unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace and appealed to the public to actively cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking or abuse. Police assured that informant details will be kept confidential, reinforcing the goal of building a drug-free and safer Doda district.
