Rachakonda: Based on reliable information, the investigative team from Hayathnagar Police, L.B. Nagar Zone, Rachakonda Commissionerate apprehended an interstate drug peddler identified as Akkabathula Lakshamaa Kumar, son of Krupa Rao, aged 32 and employed as a lorry driver, along with Ganta Srinu Babu, son of Veeraswamy, aged 26 and working as a lorry driver. Both individuals are from Andhra Pradesh. The police confiscated 200 kilograms of contraband ganja, a tanker lorry with license plate AP 31 TN 9863, net cash amounting to Rs. 10,000, and one mobile phone from their possession, all valued at Rs. 60.10 lakhs. A case was registered under the NDPS ACT-1985 (Amendment Act-2001) at Hayathnagar Police.

Case Background:
Nookaraju, Akkabathula Lakshmana Kumar, and Ganta Srinu Babu were involved in the illegal transportation of ganja. They regularly transported ganja from the agency area Rampachodavaram in Alluri Seetharam Raju district of Andhra Pradesh to Pune, Maharashtra, and Delhi for unknown buyers, generating substantial profits from this illicit trade. Approximately a year ago, Nookaraju acquainted Akkabathula Lakshmana Kumar and Ganta Srinu Babu with this operation, offering them Rs. 1,00,000/- each for every trip. Following Nookaraju’s instructions, the accused transported ganja from Rampachodavaram to Pune three times. On October 18, 2023, Nookaraju provided them with a loaded ganja lorry (Br. No. AP 31 TN 9863) to be transported to Delhi. Acting on credible information, the police intercepted them near ORR Peddamberpet on October 19, 2023, around 12:10 P.M. They found ganja in the tanker lorry and took both individuals into custody. Subsequently, the police seized 200 kilograms of contraband ganja, one tanker lorry (Br. No. AP 31 TN 9863), net cash of Rs. 10,000/-, and one mobile phone from the accused, all valued at Rs. 60.10 lakhs.
The arrests were made under the guidance of Mr. D.S. Chauhan, I.P.S., Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Mrs. B. Sai Sri. DCP, LB Nagar Zone, and Mr. B. Koteswara Rao, Addl. DCP, LB Nagar Zone, following the directives of Mr. S. Bheem Reddy, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Vanasthalipuram Division. The diligent efforts of the Hayathnagar Police are highly commendable and duly recognized by the authorities.
