Hailakandi: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Panchgram police in Hailakandi district of Assam intercepted a group of alleged drug dealers and seized a large quantity of illicit substances. Acting on intelligence, the police, under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Bishnu Baruah, conducted the targeted operation.
During the operation, an Alto car with registration number AS 25 P 5846 was intercepted, revealing 8,600 Yaba tablets hidden within. Additionally, Rs.80,000 in cash was confiscated, and the police arrested the suspected individuals, identified as Anam Uddin Laskar and Abdul Rauf. The estimated market value of the seized Yaba tablets is approximately Rs.26 lakh.
Simultaneously, in another operation by the Special Task Force of Assam in Dakhingaon, Saukuchi Road, under the jurisdiction of Hatigaon Police Station in Guwahati, two notorious drug peddlers were apprehended, and a stash of illicit substances was recovered along with other incriminating items.
These items include one soapbox containing suspected Heroin weighing 12.5 grams, cash amounting to Rs.30,200, two mobile phones, and a 125cc Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle with registration number AS 15 U 9994.
The apprehended individuals in the operation are identified as Babidul Haque and Nur Mohammad, residents of Udmari village in Barpeta district of Assam.
