Ganderbal: In their ongoing campaign to eliminate the presence of drugs in society, the Police in Ganderbal have apprehended a notorious drug peddler. Acting on the directives of SSP Ganderbal, Mr. Nikhil Borkar-IPS, a police team led by the incharge of PP Shadipora, and under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ganderbal, conducted a checkpoint operation at Satkreeri Chowk, where they intercepted an individual behaving suspiciously. Upon conducting a search, they discovered 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate in his possession. The suspect, identified as Hilal Ahmad Ganie, son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Ganie and a resident of Wakoora, was promptly arrested and transported to the police station, where he remains in custody.
A case has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal, vide FIR No. 287/2023, under the relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway.
Community members are urged to provide any information regarding drug peddling in their neighborhoods. Those found involved in such activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law. The consistent actions taken against drug peddlers serve as a reassurance to the community that efforts are being made to keep our society free from the scourge of the drug menace.
