Rachakonda: The SOT team from LB Nagar Zone, in collaboration with Vanasthalipuram police, apprehended two interstate drug peddlers transporting MDMA from Bengaluru to Hyderabad. Veeram Nageshwar, 24, from East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, and Kalathiripi Jitendra, 25, from Suryapet district, were identified and a case was filed under the NDPS Act – 1985 at Vanasthalipuram Police Station, Rachakonda Commissionerate.
Veeram Nageshwar, employed at Shakes N Slices in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, and Kalathiripi Jitender, a Dubbing Sound Engineer in Telugu Movies residing in Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills, were close friends addicted to drugs. Nageshwar, in contact with a Nigerian drug peddler in Bengaluru, proposed the idea of procuring and selling drugs in Hyderabad to Jitender, who provided financial support.
Nageshwar would obtain MDMA from Bengaluru for Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,000 per gram, selling it in Hyderabad for Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000 per gram. Acting on credible information on December 21, 2023, the SOT LB Nagar Zone team and Vanasthalipuram police arrested the accused at Mohan Kanta, NH-65, Auto Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, seizing 30 grams of MDMA and 2 mobile phones. The accused are being produced before the magistrate for judicial remand.
Rachakonda Police appeals to the public, especially youth and students, to avoid falling prey to drugs and engage in anti-social activities. Parents are urged to monitor their children’s activities and report any information to the police. The arrest was made under the guidance of Mr. G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and Mr. K. Muralidhar, DCP, SOT, LB Nagar-Maheshwaram, Rachakonda, by the SOT LB Nagar Zone Team and Vanasthalipuram police personnel.
