Rachakonda: Acting on credible information, the sleuths of the SOT, LB Nagar Zone team, along with Vanasthalipuram police, apprehended two interstate drug peddlers and one consumer. A case was registered at Vanasthalipuram Police Station, Rachakonda. The accused were identified as follows: Attapuram Bharath Reddy, 21, from Hayath Nagar (peddler and consumer); Chikyala Wickyath, 19, from Vanasthalipuram (peddler); and Tanneru Hemanth Kumar, 25, from Hayath Nagar (consumer). The police seized 26 grams of MDMA, four mobile phones, all worth Rs. 4 lakhs.
Attapuram Bharath Reddy and Wickyath, who are close friends, were addicted to drugs. Recognizing the high demand, they decided to purchase MDMA from Bengaluru at a low rate of Rs. 1200 per gram and sell it to customers for Rs. 4000-5000 per gram to make easy money. Following their plan, they contacted sources in Bengaluru and bought about 26 grams of MDMA at Rs. 1200 per gram. On the evening of June 16, 2024, they arrived in Hyderabad with the MDMA and stored it at Wickyath’s house.
On June 17, 2024, at around 23:20 hours, while they were selling MDMA to a customer named Tanneru Hemanth Kumar, the police received information, apprehended the accused, and seized the contraband. During the intervening night of June 17-18, 2024, the SOT LB Nagar Zone team, along with Bhongir Rural police, apprehended the accused at Anajipuram X road and seized two liters of hash oil, three mobile phones, Rs. 2,500 in cash, and a Tata Altroz car.
One of the accused, Perusamula Dinesh, was previously involved in similar cases and had cases booked against him at Bala Nagar Excise Police Station. Special teams have been formed to apprehend the sources and identify consumers for necessary legal action. All the accused in these two cases are being produced in court for judicial remand.
