Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: In a continued drive against illegal liquor sales, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing of Tirunelveli City Police arrested eight individuals and seized a significant quantity of liquor from different locations within the city.
During a patrol in the Vannarpettai Road Street area of Palayamkottai, police apprehended two accused who were found selling liquor unlawfully and seized 14 bottles from their possession.
In subsequent operations across the city, police arrested three more individuals from various areas including Karaiyiruppu, Tenkasi district, and Udangudi, seizing 75 bottles of liquor.
Further action led to the arrest of three additional persons from Palayamkottai, Srivaikuntam, and Pettai, from whom 102 bottles of liquor were confiscated.
In total, eight accused were arrested and 191 bottles of illicit liquor were seized during the operation.
Police officials stated that such enforcement drives will continue to curb illegal liquor activities and ensure strict compliance with law, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining public order and safety.
