Tiruvallur: Jannaraj aged 65 runs a vegetable shop in Tiruayarpati, which is next to Ponneri in Tiruvallur district. Day before Yesterday night, a gang of 10 people arrived at the store. To celebrate the birthday of our Rowdy gang leader Deepak they threatened him and asked him to pay for his birthday, the vegetable vendor said that he will not pay the money, the gang spoke bad language to him and flung stones at him and threw the tomatoes on the road and pushed the vegetables that were in the basket on the road and broke the chair, table, cashbox, weighing machine and threw stones. On seeing this his son Victor aged 32 and Yuvaraj aged 35 who worked in the shop asked them and they attacked them violently with iron rods and inflicted injury in the stomach, on the back and they escaped. Immediately the people who were nearby took both Victor and Yuvaraj to the Ponneri Government Hospital.
Later for advanced treatment, they were sent to Stanley Hospital and both are undergoing treatment there. On getting the information the Ponnari Police Inspector Mr.Paulraj, Police Sub-Inspector Mr. Shivaraj took immediate action and arrested the gang leader Deepak (22) of Thiruvayerpadi and questioned him. The accused have been identified as Sukumar (24), Vinod (24), Karthik (22), Kallukadyedu Prabhakaran (24), Narenandan (24), Jegan (24) and Thiagarajan (23) of Ponneri. Later the eight people were arrested and put in prison. The Ponneri police are investigating the case and are searching for four more people belonging to the mob. The police were quick to work and apprehend the culprits. The Ponneri traders have been relieved after this arrest.
