Bengaluru: Mobile app-based transport, freight and food supply companies should take measures for the safety of customers. Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy IPS has warned on Saturday that strict legal action will be taken if the rule is violated. The Bengaluru Police commissioner held a coordination meeting with heads and representatives of Ola, Uber, Rapido and other taxi and restaurant aggregators and other e-commerce companies at his office on Infantry Road on Saturday to discuss safety measures. Around 40 representatives from various companies participated in the meeting.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy IPS advised app-based taxi companies to check the background of drivers, delivery agents and other employees before hiring them and warned of strict action against the company if there is any lapse in safety measures and customers face problems. He said that the companies should take the criminal background of the employees working in the agencies only after collecting at least two documents about their identity and the documents about the vehicles they use.
He instructed to keep a strict watch on the delivery boys of the companies who supply household items, food and meals to the houses, sexual harassment, drugs, transportation of prohibited items and other illegal activities will not be tolerated .
Special Commissioner (Traffic) MA Salim and other senior IPS officers were present in the meeting.
