Erode, Tamil Nadu. May 2025: The double murder of a 75-year-old man named Ramasamy and his wife Pakkiyam near Sivagiri in Erode district, at a place called Megarayan Thottam, has caused a major shock. The incident was discovered on May 1, 2025. Police suspect that the couple may have been murdered for their gold jewelry.
In this double murder case, Perundurai DSP Gokulakrishnan was initially appointed as the investigating officer. Later, to intensify the investigation, the Erode District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sujatha appointed ADSP Vivekanandan as the new investigating officer. To expedite the investigation, eight special teams have been formed, and over 100 CCTV footages are being examined.
This murder case resembles several other incidents in the past few years involving elderly victims in Erode and Tiruppur districts. As a result, suspicions have arisen that this may be the work of a serial robbery gang.
Overall, the investigation into this double murder case is progressing intensively, and efforts are being made to arrest the culprits as soon as possible.
