As transactions through digital platforms are increasing in recent times, crime through these platforms is also on the rise. Many loan apps and micro credit credits are targeting vulnerable and low income groups with loans of high interest rates and hidden charges followed by black mailing, extortion with criminal threats and recovery methods. They are causing more trouble by making them download the loan apps and stealing personal information like phone contacts, camera location.

Family photos, call recordings are morphed & sent to relatives, friends on social media. They are also collecting high interests by blackmailing and harassing mentally. Fake loan app companies lure with the promise of immediate loan approval without any guarantee documents and CIBIL score. Even after paying the entire loan they demand to pay more. RBI declared 600 apps as illegal and identified 137 fake loan apps running in the country without any approvals related to NBFC with a Chinese link.
